To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.

Fitness is important to me because my mental and physical health are a priority.

I made a complete fitness and health transformation in 2012 when I started running and again in 2014 when I completed two rounds of the 21 Day Fix and 1 round of PiYo. I lost weight, gained muscle and my entire outlook on life improved.

My Transformation

In 2012 I wanted to increase my fitness, dramatically change my body and become a better runner. I realized that training for races alone was not helping me achieve those goals. I had hit a major plateau and I didn't know what to do.

So I ordered Insanity.

Everyday on our lunch breaks, my boyfriend and I would meet at home and power through an Insanity workout session. We ate thoughtfully, and more often.  In 30 days, halfway through the program, I had lost a total of 10 lbs and my boyfriend - who had only started to support me - had lost 8 lbs. We were stunned.

While I was on the program, I ran my fastest race ever and I ran my first Marathon. In fact, Insanity gave me the energy and strength I needed to run the Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge at Walt Disney World. What does that mean? It means I ran a half marathon on a Saturday and ran a full marathon the next day. 39.3 miles in two days. Then I flew back home and ran another half marathon the week after at Disneyland. Insanity kept me sane!

Fast forward.

In April 2014 I made a conscious decision to take better care of myself and so I kick-started my quest for a better me with the 21 Day Fix. I gave the 21 Day Fix 200% the first round. Did you follow along on my 21 Day Fix transformation and join the conversation? If you did, you know that I lost 14 pounds and 14.4 inches during 2 rounds of the 21 Day Fix!

Since then, I have gone on to try PiYo and T25. I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and have become a happier, faster, more fit version of myself in the process. It has not been easy, but it has been worth every drop of sweat. Today I am 25.5 lbs lighter than I was in April. Now weighing 118 pounds, I am faster, happier, healthier and more energetic than ever before. I love sharing my success in hopes that it will inspire others to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle. It's not about the number on a scale, it's about the number of years you can add to your life.

We are all a work in progress. My journey to better health will continue to grow and evolve.
