Star Wars Dark Side 10K Recap

To wear a race costume or not to wear a race costume. That always seems to be the question. Especially when running at Walt Disney World. Humidity is my Kryptonite. If I could run in a tiny sports bra and booty shorts, I would. Believe that. But since I can't, and since it was the Inaugural WDW Star Wars 10K, I had to think. I knew I didn't want to wear a Star Wars themed costume. I wanted to be creative, unique and out of this world. My first thought: Captain Eo. Problem? Too many clothes. Second thought? Epcot Minnie Mouse circa 1980s.

Rebel Challenge Recap Part 2: Star Wars Half Marathon

The night before the Star Wars Half Marathon I did something I've never done before. I know that switching up your routine before or during a race is (in theory) never a good idea but I like to test myself and I've never had an issue. So the night before the Star Wars Half, after an amazing dinner of "Walt's Favorite" Homemade Meatloaf at Carnation Cafe, I left Disneyland at about 7:00 pm. I went back to my hotel room and I did the unimaginable.

Rebel Challenge Recap Part 1: Star Wars 10K

Falling asleep the night before the Star Wars 10K was impossible. I blame Sir Elton John. My Friday went from the Star Wars 5K to the Lilly Belle to Club 33 to watching Sir Elton John perform live in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Seriously. It was like a dream and I was too excited to sleep. I STILL have goosebumps!

runDisney Star Wars 5K Recap

My first race of Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend was the Star Wars 5K. Not part of the Rebel Challenge, the Star Wars 5K is an untimed family fun run through the parks. The race started dark and early Friday morning at 5:30 AM. I was excited to take my new Garmin Forerunner 230 for a spin! Yes, I would be following doctor's orders and walking, but I was still excited to start this journey to recovery on the right track.

Inaugural Infinity Gauntlet Challenge Race Recap Part 2: Avengers Half Marathon

After the Captain America 10K, I spent the rest of the entire day at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure soaking in Christmas, enjoying dinner and the parks with a friend and dancing along to the ¡Viva Navidad! celebration. I even sat in on a few sets at the Royal Swing Big Band Ball. After all that fun I made it back to the hotel early enough to catch the fireworks from my room just before going to bed.

runDisney Disneyland 5K Race Recap

Picking out a costume for this race wasn't easy. I wanted to wear my Maleficent costume for the 5K (because I thought she might be on this course) and the Evil Queen costume for the 10K because I thought she might be on that course. But I had a feeling I wouldn't last more than a couple of miles in the Evil Queen Costume, and I was really starting think I'd need to swap my costume plans...

runDisney Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Expo Recap

My friend Christine and I have an accidental tradition: we fly in late the night before the runDisney Expo opens, we stay up all night catching up and then we wake up a couple of hours later and wait in the Official Race Merchandise line. The funny thing is, we usually never buy more than 2 items each. We don't do it for the shopping, we're in it to have fun and enjoy ourselves. The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Expo was no exception!

Disneyland Half Marathon 10th Anniversary Party Recap

I am living proof that the best way to have kicked off running every single race during runDisney's Disneyland Half Marathon weekend was by celebrating with a private 10th Anniversary Party at Disneyland. Sure the party was the night before the 5K, but who needs sleep when your mission is to meet all your favorite classic Disney characters!?

Those of us that registered for the party celebrated with special character photo opportunities, entertainment and attractions. We were also treated to an exclusive (as in: every seat was the best seat) viewing of the “Paint the Night” parade. Additionally, we received this sweet 10th anniversary sling bag.
