The San Francisco Giant Race Recap
I met JT Snow today!
Yes, there was a race too, and I walked on the hallowed grass that belongs to the SF Giants, but I repeat: I MET JT SNOW TODAY!
I’ll start from the beginning. This beautiful little young lady and I woke up hours before dawn and drove to San Francisco for The Giant Race 5K. Having already run the inaugural San Jose Giants 5K together, we were really looking forward to this race and our Double Play reward!
The Giant Race is made up of a 5K, 10K, half marathon and children/family races. The races all brought in quite a big crowd! We lined up for our race early enough to relax and talk before it was time to start.
Off we went! We ran up the Embarcadero before looping back and running into AT&T Park. The 5K course was a simple, fun loop. We decided to slow our pace and walk to soak in the early morning and the beautiful scenery...until we neared the finish line, that is.
Running towards the finish line and into the park was the most amazing feeling ever! Especially when the person waiting to high-5 you at the finish line is one of your all -time favorite baseball players!
As we ran into the park and I looked up at the jumbo tron to see myself and my daughter - I was shocked to see what appeared to be #6 at the finish line. When I realized it was him, I had a minor heart attack then tossed my phone to my daughter so she cold take a picture of us together.
With a smile plastered on my face we went on to hang out all over the field. We took pictures and enjoyed playing on the nicest grass in baseball. Championship grass! This was an awesome race - one of my favorite races yet. I highly recommend it! Next year I'd like to do the 10K or half marathon.
Once I got home I poured myself a glass of bubbly and celebrated with Matt Cain.
If you are a San Francisco Giants fan, a baseball fan or just plain looking for a race to run in San Francisco- run this race. The benefactor is Project Open Hand, the city is San Francisco, the park is AT&T. It's a win-win situation.
